Meet Our Staff

Senior Pastor, Kevin W. Clark

I grew up in a Christian home in Utica, Kentucky and accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior at the age of 8.  My father was a coal miner and my mother worked in retail sales.  I have a younger sister who still resides in Utica.  Growing up in a rural setting instilled in me an appreciation for the pace of living in a small town and a love for the outdoors.  When I am not working I enjoy taking long rides on my bicycle, hunting, fishing, and sports of all kinds, but most of all, I enjoy spending time with my wife.

After graduating high school in1989, I served three years in the United States Navy.  Kari and I were married in 1990 and in1992 we returned to Kentucky and I went to work as welder, carpenter, and concrete finisher in the construction industry.

I accepted the call into the ministry and was ordained at Utica Baptist Church in 1997.  I graduated from Liberty University in 2003 with a degree in Biblical Studies and earned a Master of Divinity with an emphasis in missions, evangelism, and church growth from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2009.  I have served as a Senior Pastor since 2001.

God has given me the desire to lead the church to be missional at home and abroad, evangelistic, focused on fellowship, intentional in discipleship, purposeful in worship, and passionately prayerful. Thus, it is my objective to lead a church to grow both numerically and spiritually.  I believe it is the pastor’s responsibility to preach God’s Word, equip believers for service, and organize the church for the purpose of growth and evangelism.

I believe that the local church has a divine commission to communicate the Good News of Jesus Christ to the world.  People need to know that there is hope.  People need to know that God is real and the He loves them unconditionally.  It is to this task I have committed my life.

The aspect of ministry I have enjoyed the most is the time I am allowed to spend with God’s people.  Kari and I share a real desire to spend time with and get to know the people we serve.  Our desire is to not just be the pastor’s family, but to be friends with the people in the church and the community.
I am incredibly blessed to be supported in ministry by my wife, Kari, and all of adult children; our son Tyler, his wife Rachel, our son Wade, his wife Leslie and our daughter Bailey.

Minister of Music, Dallas Pruitt

First Baptist has been my home church all of my life. I started leading worship in 2002 when I was in youth group. After graduating high school I went on to get an Associates in Science degree with 4 certificates in Machine Technology. I am married to my beautiful wife Candise and we have 3 beautiful children, Carolina, Carrington and Dodge.

I love God being able to use me to help prepare hearts for worship and glorify Him.
